Introduction to Sai Baba and His Work

This site offers the socalled Vahinis (Vahini means stream). These are the books that Bhagavan S'ri Sathya Sai Baba has written Himself. These writings are Swami's streams of thought on a range of subjects: meditation, right action, wisdom, peace, divine love and Hindu scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and the story of Rama and Krishna. The Vahinis originally appeared in the as'ram's monthly magazine Sanathana Sarathi. There are fifteen Vahinis starting with the Bhagavata Vahini meaning 'The story of God and His Devotees'. Sathyanarayana Raju, as Sai Baba was named, was born on November 23, 1926, in a small remote village called Puttaparthi in the south of India, approximately 160 km north of Bangalore. There is now His as'ram named 'Prasanthi Nilayam', which means: 'Place of Supreme Peace'. In Whitefield, about 25 km of Bangalore, Baba also has an as'ram where He regularly stays. This place of peace is called Brindavan. Of all the Vahinis there are downloads available. Besides His books, there is a glossary where the words are collected that in the Vahinis at this site are explained by Sai Baba.

Narayana Kasturi: His Biographer

Narayana Kasturi (1897-1987) has been Baba's biographer for many decades. Besides he has also been the translator for Baba's discourses and writings, editor of 'Sanathana Sarathi' (eternal charioteer) and an elderly devotee at Prasanthi Nilayam. He is the author of 'Sathyam Sivam Sundaram': 'Truth, Happiness, Harmony' - The biography of Bhagavan S'ri Sathya Sai Baba. Vahini.org offers this four-volume book (decorated with images, illustrating the stories) for reading on-line and as downloads. A short lifestory about Kasturi and his service to Bhagavan is offered at this site too. There is a separate photo-gallery where the photos and pictures are collected used to illumine the chapters in this biography.

Vahini.org offers around 60 of His most well-known bhajans in MP3 format, sung by Swami Himself solo and/or together (with lyrics). Besides, there are nine important mantras (sound vibration or series of sounds freeing the mind) sung by devotees on various subjects and occasions. A film called: Bhagavan S'ri Sathya Sai's Work - My Life is My Message can also be viewed to get an impression of all the important projects Sathya Sai Baba helped accomplish i.e. universities, schools, hospitals, good drinking water supplies etc.
